This policy explains which cookies academy.danielalfocea.com uses (the
public site and app.academy.danielalfocea.com, the application where you
study), what each one is for, how long it lasts and how you can avoid it.
In short: the public site shows you no cookie banner. The Meta pixel loads from the first visit, on both the public site and the application, without asking your permission first. Below is how to turn it off.
1. What a cookie is
A small file that a website stores in your browser. It is used to remember something between one visit and the next: that you already logged in, that you chose a dark theme, or that an ad brought you here.
The ones needed for the site to work do not require permission (art. 22.2 of Law 34/2002 on information society services, LSSI). Those that are not essential —measuring, personalising advertising— do require it in principle. Here the Meta pixel does not wait for it: it loads from the first visit, with no prior banner. That is our decision and it is explained in section 3.
2. Technical cookies
| Cookie | What for | Set by | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
__Host-sesion | Keeping you identified while you study. It only exists after you log in to the application | Academy (first party) | Up to 90 days without activity, or until you log out |
academy_consentimiento | Remembering your choice in the application’s notice (section 4), so we don’t ask again. It is set by the application, not the public site | Academy (first party) | 12 months |
In addition, the application stores in your browser’s local storage
(localStorage, these are not cookies and never leave your device) your
light/dark theme preference and which sections of the side menu you have
collapsed.
3. Meta (Facebook and Instagram): loaded without a prior banner
We pay for ads on Facebook and Instagram. To know which ones work, the public
site and the application load the Meta pixel (identifier
1672992461000835, the same one we use on danielalfocea.com) as soon as
you open any page, without waiting for you to accept anything. There is no
banner asking beforehand.
| What | What for | Who | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
_fbp cookie (domain .danielalfocea.com) | Identifying your browser to measure which ads work | Meta Platforms Ireland Limited | 90 days |
localStorage data: lastExternalReferrer and lastExternalReferrerTime | Which external page you come from, for Meta’s measurement | Meta Platforms Ireland Limited | Until you delete them |
_fbc cookie | Only if you arrived from a Meta ad (with an fbclid in the address): it remembers which ad it was | Meta Platforms Ireland Limited | 90 days |
What Meta receives from your browser: which pages you view (with the product
name on course pages), the _fbp cookie identifier, your IP and your browser.
If you have your Facebook or Instagram account open in that same browser, Meta
may link it to that account.
Also, from our server. Our server also sends Meta (Conversions API) usage
events, whether or not you have accepted anything: the page view, the product
you look at, the sign-up or the download of a free resource, with your IP,
your browser, the _fbp and _fbc cookies if you have them and, if you have
logged in, your email and an identifier of your account hashed with SHA-256.
An ad blocker stops the browser pixel, but not this sending. The events of the
payment page and of your purchase are sent by the payment platform
(billing.danielalfocea.com), with its own policy.
The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in measuring the results of our ads (art. 6.1.f GDPR). You can object by writing to us (see the privacy policy).
How to turn it off
- In your browser: block third-party cookies or those of
facebook.com/connect.facebook.net, or delete_fbpand_fbcin the cookie settings (section 6). They are created again if the pixel loads again. - With a blocker (uBlock Origin, strict mode in Firefox or Brave, Safari with tracking prevention): the pixel never loads.
- On Meta: from the ad settings of your Facebook or Instagram account you can limit the use of your off-Meta activity data to show you ads. It is in the ad settings of your Meta account.
- With us: write to us if you want to object to the sending from the server (previous section).
4. The application’s notice (Google Analytics only)
The public site has no banner. The application (app.academy.danielalfocea.com)
does show a cookie bar, but only about Google Analytics and the link
attribution cookie; it does not cover Meta. Rejecting takes the same click as
accepting, and you can change your mind later from the «Cookies» button in the
application.
If you accept there:
| Cookie / sending | What for | Who | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
academy_ref | Remembering, for 30 days, that you arrived through a campaign or affiliate link, to know what brought the sale if you buy another day | Academy (first party) | 30 days |
| Events to Google Analytics 4 | Measuring visits and conversions, sent from our server (Measurement Protocol) | Google Ireland Limited | — |
Today we do not load the Google Analytics script in your browser, so no
_ga cookies are installed. If it is ever turned on, this policy is updated
first. If you reject, nothing is sent to Google and academy_ref is not
stored; the platform works exactly the same.
If you type an affiliate’s code at checkout, that is not a cookie: it is data you enter yourself at that moment.
5. What there is NOT
- There are no third-party cookies to measure general use of the site. Our own measurement of visits is calculated on our server without cookies or identifiers in your browser, and that is why it does not appear in the tables.
- There are no programmatic ad networks, heat maps or support chats with their own cookie. If that changes, this policy is updated before it is turned on.
6. How to delete cookies already installed
You can delete them from your browser’s settings; each one has its own path,
and searching its help for «delete cookies» is the quickest way. To also remove
the localStorage data, use the option to delete «site data».
7. Third parties: their own policies
- Meta: Meta’s Cookie Policy.
- Google: Google’s Privacy Policy and how it uses cookies.
You can manage the ads Google shows you from its ad settings.
8. Changes to this policy
If it changes in a relevant way —a new cookie, a new provider, a different period— the date at the top is updated. We do not ask you for anything again, because the Meta pixel does not depend on your consent.
